Every organization should be able to practice a cyber crisis.
simler is a Dutch company based in Amsterdam. We build software that lets the board and the organization practice realistic cyber incidents, see where things go wrong and show that they're prepared.
Why we're building simler
With NIS2 and the Dutch Cyberbeveiligingswet, more and more organizations have to show that they can handle a cyber incident. The board is responsible for that itself.
Yet most organizations rarely practice. Writing a scenario takes weeks, the right people are hard to get together at the same time, and an outside firm is expensive and often works with a standard scenario that doesn't fit the organization.
We want to change that. With simler, the scenario comes from your own plans, simler guides the exercise and the debrief shows what could be better. That way, practicing becomes something you do regularly, instead of a project that comes around once a year.
The team
simler was founded by Michiel van der Steeg and Floris Hol.
Michiel van der Steeg
Co-founder, commercial
Michiel started his career in cybersecurity at Fox-IT, delivering security services to organizations in high-risk threat environments, before moving to KPN to shape its enterprise cybersecurity offering. He later co-founded one of the first Dutch digital-asset investment firms, which he sold. At simler, he leads product strategy and the commercial side, drawing on his security background and years of experience in high-stakes situations.

Floris Hol
Co-founder, product and technology
Floris has worked in AI for ten years. He spent seven of them on Deloitte's AI team, where he finished as lead AI engineer, building large-scale AI systems for highly regulated organizations. There he learned how technology lands inside real organizations and where it actually creates value. He then founded another company and raised funding for it. At simler, he leads product and technology.

Plans and exercises contain sensitive information. Everything is encrypted in storage and in transit, and every organization sees only its own data.
AI helps, people decide
simler writes scenarios, plans and debriefs. You review and adjust scenarios and plans before you use them, and you decide what happens with the outcomes.

Good practice shouldn't take a consultant and weeks of preparation. You can try simler for free, and with a subscription you practice as often as you like.

simler is made in Amsterdam, for Dutch organizations. Exercises run fully in Dutch or English, and you can request a data processing agreement from us.
